Resolve common issues when restoring Make scenarios from backups

Common Issues

Failed to Restore Scenario

Symptoms

  • Error message: "Failed to restore scenario"
  • Restore process starts but fails to complete
  • Scenario not appearing in Make after restore

Solutions

  1. Check API Permissions

    • Verify your API key has scenarios:write permission
    • Ensure API key is still valid (check your API key in Make's interface)
  2. Verify Make Access

    • Confirm you can create/edit scenarios in Make
    • Check organization and team access
    • Verify account status is active

Backup Content Issues

Symptoms

  • Error message: "Failed to fetch backup content"
  • Can't download or access backup
  • Backup appears corrupted

Solutions

  1. Check Backup Access

    • Try downloading the backup file
    • Verify backup file exists
  2. Retry Restore

    • Select backup again
    • Clear browser cache
    • Try from a different browser

Missing Data After Restore

Symptoms

  • Scenario restored but missing components
  • API keys or passwords not working (remember these aren't stored in backups)
  • Connections showing as disconnected

Solutions

  1. Reconfigure Sensitive Data

    • Re-enter API keys and passwords
    • Reconnect third-party services
    • Update webhook configurations
  2. Verify Scenario Configuration

    • Check all modules and connections
    • Test scenario execution
    • Compare with original if available

Webhook Configuration Issues

Symptoms

  • Webhooks not triggering
  • "Duplicate webhook" errors
  • Missing webhook URLs

Solutions

  1. For New Scenarios

    • Reconfigure all webhooks
    • Update webhook URLs in external services
    • Test webhook triggers
  2. For Overwritten Scenarios

    • Verify webhook configurations
    • Test existing webhook URLs
    • Check webhook permissions
